Did you unzip the file into the proper folder as specified in the readme text?
Go and read it, make sure your file is unzipped. Refrain from using simzip or simfilemaid. They are great programs but don't suit hacks which have specific instructions.

Did you read the readme text included in the zip file?
If not, go and read it! For hacks you must read the readme, they are not regular files.

I have a "missing animation" bubble and my file is unzipped!
Are your animations loose inside the "skins" folder or are they in a folder inside your skins folder ? Make sure they are not inside a folder inside your skin folder - they must be at the same level as your skins bmp files. Try to place them in the game data/animations folder if they still don't run. For objects automatically creating a folder upon extraction with winzip, do not remove the animations or the skins from that newly created folder. In some cases depending on your PC, for obscure reasons, you need to put your animations either in your skins folder or your animations folder. An animation is composed of a cmx and of a cfp, so make sure both files are there. Finally, are you sure you have the EP corresponding to that object i.e. the slide MUST have vacation! You didn't read the expansion requirements didn't you?

My NPCs are invisible or have only hands!
Is the whole file properly unzipped?
Are the .cmx, .skn and .bmp files inside your skins folder loose - meaning not inside a folder inside the skins folder - and/or are they indeed inside the folder automatically created upon extraction of the zipe file? Check if they are complete (a cmx, a skn and a bmp) If indeed there are inside the folder created and still not running you'll need to copy the 3 files (cmx, skn and bmp) into your Game data/skins folder. Some skins files don't have a .skn file, because it already exists in the game.

My object disappears in live mode!
Well very simple problem: you don't have the required Expansion Pack! Ask yourself a simple question: "do I have this object or a look alike in my game?" If the answer is "no" then you don't have the EP!

Do I really need the required Expansion Pack to make an object work?
Every object has a game edition code making it self-destruct in live mode if the required EP is not found. The code can be easily changed but we will not do that! We have to be fair to all the people who bought the EPs and don't want the site to close. Changing the code will not give you the animations, accessories and sounds the object might require.

Your object makes my game crash!
Not a word we both like given our work background! Have you tried to remove our object from the game and see if it is OK? If it doesn't return to desktop then our object might have an ID conflict with anotherone in your game. However we are using our own magic cookies. Try to run a program checking on IDs, here is a free one.
Run in debug objects mode: for PC users, try to run your game in debug objects mode. Add to the shortcut you have to launch the game the following: rightclick on your shortcut, select "properties" , in the target box add at the end: -debug_objects and you'll get that: "C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Sims.exe" -r1280x1024 -debug_objects (if your game is called The Sims and if you run in 1280x1024 mode, notice the space before the "-debug") During gameplay if a problem is encountered with an object you'll get a pop up message with 3 options, press "reset" and most of the time the game will continue to play. In your sims folder a report in text form will be issued telling you who was the culprit. If it's one of our objects, send us the report please (remove the # before the address). You'll notice some Maxis objects might also initiate a report, doesn't mean they are game crashers though. If you had to press "delete" to get the game continue playing, exit without saving, this is a game crasher indeed.

Sorry girls, but I have done all of the above and still my object doesn't work!
We suggest you contact us! Please mention your operating system, the expansion packs you have, into which folder you put your object, what program you ran to check on IDs, at what specific time the problem occurs (on upload, when you first attempt to use the object, after you have used the object etc.) and what exactly your problem is (crashes to desktop, motion becomes jerky, program hangs and will not restart, etc.).

HELP! HELP! I try to open my zip and it says "invalid" file"!
Quite a known problem with big files. Big zips might not have been completely downloaded or gotten corrupted while downloading and therefore will not open. We always check that what we uploaded is indeed complete and we download it once to check if it works. Download the item again, several attempts might be needed. Also the server might be very busy, so try at a more quiet time - our traffic is mainly from the US so consider the whole US different times for defining a quiet moment, weekdays are normally lighter. If still unsuccesful, then please contact us.
